In June of 2008, University Apartments was purchased by Tom and Elizabeth
Richardson. Tom and Betsi have lived in Durham for over 30
years and have raised their two daughters, Ellen and Martha,
here. Also included in the photo are Tom’s parents, Tom and
Veda Richardson of Nashua, NH.
Betsi
is a dental hygienist and has worked with local dentists
Kevin Dugas and Bruce Bragdon for 35 years. She also assists
with the management of University Apartments and is
frequently in the office.
Tom worked on
the UNH campus for 30 years with the joint Durham – UNH Fire
Department. He enjoys working with UNH students and has
taken many UNH classes over the years. After 30 years of
dealing with emergencies in a college town he has “seen it
all”. And he still enjoys college students and the unique
life of a college town. He is also a licensed Master
Electrician. Tom is the manager of University Apartments
and is on site almost every day. Ellen is presently in law
school and Martha is a junior in college.
Tom and Veda
are retired after raising five children and founding Delta
Education of Nashua, NH, a supplier of science and math
supplies for schools.
The Richardson’s will be continuing the “family management”
of “The Coops” in a manner similar to that of the previous
owners. |
